It’s that time of year again! 😊 This year is the 5th annual fundraiser that I am holding in honor of my dad who passed away in November of 2018.

On November 27, 2017, my dad was diagnosed with an unforgivable and incurable disease – pancreatic cancer. Doctors told us that there was no cure to date, only palliative options – and so my family began fighting a battle with an unknown result. Fast forward not enough time, countless chemotherapy sessions and trips in and out of the ER, November 19, 2018, just shy of 1 year of my dad’s diagnosis, he surrendered himself to this unforgiving disease. As you can imagine, it was the hardest thing my family (a household of dad, mom and 3 girls growing up) not only to watch our Superman get weaker and weaker but to then say goodbye much too soon in life.

Five years ago, right around this time, I started a fundraiser and called it “The Mac Project”. I was lucky enough to have dad around, doing what he does best and being my #1 fan and supporter. I focused this project around Valentine’s day to express love and raise funds for Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation and their research so that families like mine could be given more answers and hope in the future. As you may or may not know, I am a case manager by day, and a baking fiend by night. My ultimate passion is baking, and so I thought, what better way to share my passion with my community while raising awareness about the fight against cancer. I dedicate this project not only to my dad, but to everyone who has been touched by cancer. Whether it be yourself, fighting a battle, a friend or family member, or to celebrate the life of someone who ended their battle – we are all touched by this in one way or another, and there is hope.

As this is a milestone year for The Mac Project, this years theme will be “Dad’s Favorites” which will include all of dad’s favorite flavors, experiences and things, including a special tribute to our beloved “Maddy Girl” who we lost unexpectedly this passed Christmas Eve. Dad of course, adored her more than words can express.

THE MAC PROJECT 2023

What: 10 assorted macarons (10 different flavors and this year’s theme is “Dad’s Favorites” which will include all of dad’s favorites, experiences and things

When: Pick up dates Feb 13-14 at my home address (I live in Bright Oaks, in Winnipeg – 2 minutes from St. Vital Mall)
