Our inaugural Keira’s Winter Klassic held February 3rd, 2018 in honour of Keira Bond, was an unqualified success! Now, after three incredible tournaments, Keira’s Winter Klassic and our amazing supporters have raised over $83,000 towards pediatric brain cancer research!
Keira was just 10 years old when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Despite the devastating diagnosis, within a few short months, Keira had decided she wanted to raise funds to help support others with cancer: Keira’s Krusade had begun (www.keiraskrusade.com). Having played ringette from the young age of five, Keira possessed incredible determination, resilience, and strength. These traits served her well during her illness.
Tragically, in June 2017, Keira was taken from us, six short months after her diagnosis. During times of extreme hardship, sport is often a mobilizing force – and our amazing ringette community did not disappoint. Many individuals within our community immediately wanted to reach out and help. Knowing Keira’s joy and passion for the game of ringette, a U12 ringette tournament was the perfect fit!
We are very excited as we prepare for our 4th annual Keira’s Winter Klassic. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our tournament will look a little different this year. We will be hosting the “Keira’s Winter Klassic 2021 Shooting Challenge” from February 5th to 16th, 2021. Contact Nancy Tovell at ntovell@mymts.net to register, or for more information.
We look forward to once again partnering with our wonderful community to help support Manitoba children diagnosed with brain cancer. All proceeds from Keira’s Winter Klassic will go to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation via Keira’s Krusade to help fight pediatric brain cancer.

A socially distanced, go when it works for you, Ice Fishing Derby for fun and prizes. All tickets purchases are considered a donation and will be eligible for our free draws. Prizes are all donated, and 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales goes to our charities of choice. Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation. Go out fishing for a day or more with your friends and families. Take pictures of your fish you catch, or just the adventures of the day. The event is open to kids and families of all ages!
