Attention MABO Officials and Friends: Please join the Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials (MABO) as we look to raise funds for the fight against cancer through the 8th Annual ‘Call A Foul On Cancer’ Pink Whistle Campaign by asking you and your friends to consider a small donation to our cause. The ‘Call A Foul On Cancer’ Pink Whistle Campaign strives to raise funds for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Participating MABO Officials will be wearing ‘Pink Whistles’ for the month of February to show their support during all levels of basketball in the province. With your help and generosity, our donations through this campaign help fund cancer research, patient care, and treatments in Manitoba. Each year, more and more Manitoba men, women, and children are winning their battles against the disease with the aid of CancerCare Manitoba oncologists, nurses, radiation therapists, and allied health care workers. Knowing that 1 in 2 Manitobans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, it’s distressing to think that the disease will most likely affect a loved one or close friend. Together we can help Manitobans living with cancer and relieve the effects on those individuals and their families! For those interested MABO officials, we are asking for a minimum donation of a full game fee ($40) which includes your very own Fox40 Pink Whistle and lanyard. Please contact your local assignor to donate and order your pink whistle/lanyard before January 27th. MABO has approved the use of the Pink Whistle during ALL games from February 1st -28th, 2018. If you’re not a MABO official, but would still like to donate… call the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation office at 204-784-2777. Canadian tax receipts will be issued in your name for all donations over $15.00. For more information, please contact MABO Pink Whistle Campaign Chair : Jamie Bernard at firstname.lastname@example.org

This past January Mayor Brian Bowman announced Winnipeg joined Harbin (China), Sapporo (Japan), Ulan Bator (Mongolia) and twenty-one other cities as accredited members of the World Winter Cities Associations for Mayors. We are Winter…officially. Furthermore, Winnipeg boasts the Guinness World Record for the longest naturally frozen skating trail. The current World Record for the Longest Line of Ice Skaters is held by a chain of 370 skaters in Hachinohe, Aomori, Japan. This record can easily be broken on the Red River Mutual Trail with YOUR help. February 4th is World Cancer Day and this coming year our committee will organize the first ever ‘Chain for Change’, a fundraiser for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. This fundraiser will also attempt to break the World Record for the Longest Line of Ice Skaters. World Cancer Day, February 4 2018, embraces the tagline “We Can. I Can.” and explores how everyone- as a collective or as an individual- can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer. Just as cancer affects everyone in different ways, each person has the power to take action to reduce cancer’s impact and it is time for Winnipeg to act in a big way.
We would love nothing more than to bring our passionate and caring community together through a patriotic activity for a worthy cause.
Let’s take action, Winnipeg. We Can. I Can.
Please join us at The Forks on February 4, 2018 and be part of the
“Chain for Change”
in support of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and the quest for a cure.
